This Renaissance Chateau, classified as a Historic Monument, is located in Calvados, ideally between land and sea. It is close to the historic D-Day beaches, ten minutes from Caen, 5 minutes from shops, schools, the ring road and 10 minutes from a airport and train station. The entrance to the property is via a magnificent bridleway adorned with trees, some of them century-old. The Chateau is surrounded by a park of approximately 10 hectares (lawn and forest). On its watercourse some remains of an old water mill remain. Although in the village, this property is completely sheltered from prying eyes and nuisances (a great haven of peace). The total living space is around 3000 m2 excluding common areas. Architectural elements are exceptional: the Renaissance sculptures on the facade, the 14th century vaulted cellar, the Renaissance kitchen remaining as it is as well as the Renaissance staircase. The main accommodation is organised around a large ornate stone staircase (1731), it opens on the ground floor onto an oval dining room surrounded by stone columns, opening onto a covered terrace. Upstairs, the magnificent living room with its beautiful terrace offers an exceptional view of the park. In addition to its 17th century coffered ceiling representing the 9 muses, this living room has a remarkable fireplace and Versailles parquet flooring. On the middle floor, a comfortable living space with central heating includes a panelled living room, a dining room, a kitchen, a small living room (former chapel with domed ceiling), 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The east wing has been converted into independent accommodation on 3 levels. In the 19th century a large outbuilding was created at the corner of the chateau with a living area of more than 300 m2 which remains to be finished. On the 1st floor of these common areas, an elegant and practical independent apartment of 100 m2 has just been created. Many rooms can still be rehabilitated. The department of Calvados is possibly the most famous of the three departments in Lower Normandy, the other two being Manche and Orne. The inhabitants are called the Calvadosiens and it is located in the north east of the region. Calvados gathers many different cultural and geographical areas in one spot, there are 4 main areas: in the west of the department we find the Bessin area, mainly around Bayeux; in the south west there is the "Swiss Normande" area, a hilly land with rivers; in the centre of the department we find Caen with flat agricultural land; the Auge area stands out in the east of the department as the typical Normandy image with its half-timbered houses. Calvados appeals to most for its many beautiful landscapes and beaches including the WWII landing beaches.
