Lotus Cortina 1963 FIA spec We built this car in 2019 from a very nice British car. It was built to FIA spec but has not been put forward for papers as it was always intended to be used in HRDC and Equipe race series. It has been raced regularly in those series picking up plenty of trophies along the way, despite both the drivers of this car being novices at the start of 2020, the car was built with reliability and tractability in mind. The engine is a genuine L block motor with all steel internals, it was built to produce torque rather than outright BHP, when it was refreshed at the start of last season by Toovey race engines it was run up on their dyno and produced a genuine 168bhp with 140ft lb of torque. This makes it a very easy car to drive with masses of mid range power. The suspension and brakes were supplied by Alan Henderson racing who also fitted the latest spec cutom cages T45 cage and did other specialised work on the car for us. Transmission is a straight cut close ratio box with alloy bellhousing and remote driving to a gripper plate type 4.1 LSD, AHR competition half shafts. The bodywork is all steel with the exception of alloy door skins, boot and bonnet, Interior wise there is a 4 litre plumbed in extinguisher, Tillet carbonfibre seat which is on runners so will fit anybody, and 6 point harness all in date and ready to go for 2022. This is a very good looking car that has been maintained regardless of cost, both our drivers are now looking to move into historic sports cars so the Cortina sadly needs to move on, it is so easy to drive and really enjoyable too, the handling is totally predictable and it is a very safe car to compete in. The car has an old style V5 registration document so could be easily road registered, the registration on the car in the pictures is the actual one.
