LOCATION Quercianella is a fraction of the municipality of Livorno, in Tuscany. In the past, the place had the name of Quercianella Sonnino, in honor of the famous baron Sidney Sonnino who had built a large castle overlooking the sea here, converting a sighting tower of Pisan origin (Torre del Salvatore). Sidney Sonnino particularly loved the place so much that he decided to be buried in a cave near his castle. Quercianella experienced a rapid development only from the second half of the nineteenth century when, with the improvement of the road network, some noble villas were built.
