Alfa Romeo GTAM Purchased and imported by a friend I drove the Alfa 105 for several years on the road as a stock car as well as having fun on the track with it. Wanting to have more fun on track I decided to embark on a full restoration and decided to convert the car to a GTAM style car. A full restoration was carried out by Italian car specialist GTB Restoration sadly no longer trading due to illness. The restoration involved a complete strip and bare metal to all but the roof. Although imported from South Africa the car still needed new 3 layer cills along with fresh front floor pans. We also took the opportunity to reinforce the chassis. Once the basic shell was sorted and rust free the following was completed to the body Fibre glass bonnet Fibre glass boot lid Aluminium re-skin to doors Cut away arches and new GTAM fibre glass extended wheel arches Original glass windscreen refitted, side screens, door and rear screen all replaced with perspex. Quarter lights with new pop out hinges for ventilation. Safety Devices FIA compliant full roll cage. Other than the rear axle, the engine block and sump everything else has been replaced largely with Alfaholics new part. Highlights of works done new race wiring loom and fuse box. Internal and external FIA compliant electrical cut off switches Centre mounted control box. FIA compliant in date lifeline fire extinguisher system engine bay and cabin. Aluminium fuel tank. Momo quick release steering wheel with steering mounted controls. Tillet carbon fibre drivers race seat and New Sabelt 5 point harness. New bespoke specially made dials. Original dash covered with Alcantara. Alcantara door skins. Testorosa bonnet catches. GTAM hoop door handles. Race rear number plate panel. New screen clearer heater box. Alfaholics prop shaft. lightweight trailing arms. Special order black dished wheels, set of six with Avon tyres. Gripper limited slip differential. The original 1600 engine was rebuilt from scratch to 1750, new ported head, forged conrods, all new race pistons, valves and all moving parts. All sundries starter, distributor alternator etc. new. Original twin Webber carbs rebuilt, couple to GTA ram-pipe set, new oil cooler, new Aluminium radiator and oil catch tank. All new track suspension set up, larger homologated front brakes, new race clutch. Basically everything replaced with new. I have used the car on and off for the last three years on road and track just for fun not in competition. It is great fun to drive and really sticks to the corners, out-cornering heavier cars with ease. Everything done was compliant with homologation papers as the original intent was to go racing however Covid put pay to that and other interest are now a priority.
