Kalandare is a semi-mountainous settlement with an altitude of 290 meters in the prefecture of Rethymno. It is located at the northern end of the prefecture, 35 kilometers South-East of the city of Rethymno and belongs to the municipality of Mylopotamos. It is a traditional, picturesque village with a rich natural environment. It has old churches, and a long gorge.
