TAMARINDO Located on the country's northern Pacific Coast on the Nicoya Peninsula, Tamarindo is a highly regarded tourist resort and town and a major centre for a wide variety of water sports. It is particularly well known for eco-tourism, surfing including wind and kite surfing, sport fishing, zip lining, scuba diving, snorkelling and boat tours. There are also nature and wild life tours, health clubs, a tennis club, children's play garden, horseback riding tours, a small casino, salsa club, cycling and off road four wheel drive tours, kayaking and canoeing. The town has two banks, two small supermarkets, plus a large air conditioned one just outside the town, a variety of shops and many cafes, bars and restaurants. The Saturday Farmers' Markets are a great favourite. The town's beach, Playa Tamarindo, is a beautiful beach which is just five minutes walk from the property. On the other side of the Tamarindo River is the Playa Grande and this is where the leatherback turtles nest, taking over the beach from November to April. In conclusion, it is hardly surprising that Tamarindo has gradually evolved from a small fishing village to the most important tourist resort in the region. That suggests rising rents and rising values while, at the same time, enjoying all that this wonderful town and area have to offer.
