Nicely presented * Spacious accommodation * Village setting * Large garden & pool * Outbuildings Built in 1892 (we know as the stone on the front facade has it engraved on it) this charming Maison de Maitre sits in the heart of a village with amenities a short distance from Fontevraud-l'Abbaye, Loudun, Chinon and Saumur, an ideal permanent or holiday home in this popular area. Spacious accommodation split over 3 floors with a large garden, outbuildings, great pool and several shaded al-fresco areas it is easy to imagine plenty of relaxing and leisure time for the family and friends who may visit. On visiting this home I parked in the attractive village square which is virtually opposite, easy to find and plenty of space the village is well kept and has a friendly air to it. The front facade is street side and offers a very formal entrance with the 3 floors dressed in the local tuffeau stone imposing over the small street below. Once inside the hallway stretches from the front door to the stairs at the rear with a choice of doors enticing you to explore further. To our right we find the first lounge, fresh white walls contrast against the quarry tiled floors with plenty of light streaming in from the front windows. An arched division separates the dining hall with views over the garden to the rear and also it's own access door to the entrance hall (Note: the owner tells me that these rooms were used as a downstairs bedroom by a previous owner). Crossing the hall through the door opposite we find the 'piece a vie' or main lounge. Double aspect with feature tuffeau fireplace this room is where the owner choses to relax and unwind. The TV finds it's place here along with a small bureau area and dining table at the other end next to the French doors leading out to the rear garden. From this room we arrive next into the kitchen, well designed with good working areas and a light and airy feel to it with views over the garden. An internal 'side entrance' from the street side is to the rear of the kitchen in an area with cupboard space, including one which hides the well. A laundry and shower room are separate from a wc and a boiler room with direct access to the rear, completing the ground floor. The stairs leading to the upper floors are made from wood originating from La Rochelle including the central column which was once a mast from a ship. The open plan area could be divided into two rooms or more as required. Outside we have a large lawned garden (circa 1000m2) with a lovely pool area, various shaded al-fresco and relaxation areas, two gated access ways (one front and one to the rear both for vehicular access). Storage rooms in the former pig/goat sheds with attic above, an open garage and a good sized barn/garage with three separate areas and loft space above. The barn and storage rooms could both convert over their 2 floors into extra accommodation if required.
