A magnificent baroque period PALAZZO, referred to by a UNESCO Ambassador as one of the most beautiful buildings in Valletta. It is scheduled under the Antiquities Act and also by MEPA as a grade 1 building for the importance of its architectural features and history. It was home to one of Malta’s most prominent bishops, Carmelo Scicluna, in the 19th Century and was therefore known to the Valletta residents as ‘The Bishop’s Palace’. Over the past 20 years the building has gone through various phases of restoration and in particular between 2004 and 2009, when a significant amount of both structural and finishing work was completed in order to upgrade the building and meet modern day requirements. Given the historical use of the building, it benefits from commercial permits on its lower three floors and residential permits on the upper two. The lower three floors have therefore been pre-wired with CAT5 data cabling to allow for the requirements of a modern day OFFICE. The 5 level, 700 square metre building is served by a 6 man commercial lift with wheelchair access and it is fully air conditioned throughout. It has an entirely new electrical and plumbing installation, a new kitchen and kitchenette, new bathrooms, solar heating and a marble floored entrance. All the internal walls and woodwork have been reconditioned as necessary and various old features of the property have been restored according to restoration method statements and with the help of conservationists. The property also features a courtyard with a sculptured well head as well as various sculptured features internally and has panoramic views of the Grand Harbour from its roof.
