Midsummer party today! While a group is cooking in the stube on the ground floor, there are those in charge of the grills on the veranda, others are expertly arranging the first appetizers and aperitifs that will expertly welcome the guests who are about to arrive. This morning we scattered the tables among the olive trees which are connected by necklaces of suspended lights. This is the first summer in our new home in Scicli and among the friends who host us in the rooms we have available and on the sofa bed we have put in the living room. We didn't think we'd make friends so quickly, and tonight having friends old and new to celebrate together makes this moment even more special. When we bought this house we immediately pictured ourselves here relaxing on the long summer days, enjoying the view and the beautiful surroundings. The house is inserted in a lot of about 1,800 square meters with a large courtyard facing the house and the apartment develops on a raised floor accessible by an external staircase. We modified it according to our needs going back to the origins, we find the kitchen on the left side and the living room on the right side both overlooking the terrace while continuing our master bedroom, the bathroom, and another room transformed into an office where my tireless husband works by connecting with the rest of the world. The upper floor, made up of its large rooms, we allocate from time to time to what we like and those who pass by here, whether they are children, grandchildren or friends, know that a welcoming room, a soft bed, a good book and a laid table there is no shortage here. The highlight is the terrace, a breathtaking view, on days when the sky is so clear that it becomes transparent, you can glimpse the outline of Malta. Our house is now just what I wanted when I saw it, a small Sicilian pearl, with some typical pieces of local art, with tablecloths, curtains and towels produced by the very talented local craftsmen. And our tavern has become a Sicilian pantry where the jams, sauces and pickles that we have produced with what now grows in our vegetable garden and in the large, well-kept garden where olive trees, carob trees and citrus groves never make us forget where we are.
