With a population of around thirteen thousand, Ciudad Quesada is situated in the Southeastern part of the Valencian region within the province of Alicante. Founded as an urbanisation in the 1970s by local entrepreneur Justo Quesada, Ciudad Quesada is now one of the most vibrant and well-known towns in the South of the Alicante province. Over the last fifty or so years, it has proven popular with both tourists and ex-patriots resulting in what is today, a thriving multi-cultural community. A large part of Ciudad Quesada's success is down to its location; it's forty minutes by car from Alicante city centre, thirty from El Altet airport, about an hour from Murcia's new Corvera airport and is serviced by the Mediterranean Motorway, the AP-7, which stretches the length of Spain's Mediterranean coast. The regional capital, Valencia, is approximately two and a half hours away by car, whilst Murcia city centre is somewhat closer and can be reached in about forty-five to fifty minutes. As one may expect, Ciudad Quesada is something of a cultural melting pot in almost every aspect of its existence.
