In the beautiful hamlet of Salve, located 5 km from the enchanting beaches of Salento, a historic palace with a watchtower dating back to the 1500s is for sale. Spread over four levels (basement, ground floor, first floor, and second floor of the tower), the palace has its entrance on Via Persico, a small street just a few meters from Piazza Concordia, the main square of the town. The Palace houses numerous traces of the past, including ancient fireplaces, cisterns, colonnades, decorations, and more. Two rooms facing the street have typical star vaults, and another area serves as the entrance to the courtyard. The ground floor and the first floor are divided into two sections, with a large courtyard in the center and a staircase leading to the upper level. The total covered area of the two sections on the ground floor is 100 square meters, while the two sections on the first floor measure a total of 167 square meters. A room on the first floor features a small and narrow staircase leading to the second floor, which houses the watchtower. From here, a second, very narrow staircase leads to the terrace, offering an exceptional panoramic view of the city and towards the sea. On the tower, the loopholes are still visible, from which soldiers used to throw stones, boiling oil, and any other available objects in case of enemy attacks. Unlike the coastal towers, the towers in inhabited centers mostly have a truncated pyramid shape on a square base. These two types of towers were connected, and some were called "torri Cavallari" because the soldiers on horseback quickly rushed to the town to warn the people of the imminent invasion. In the basement, there is a cellar, typically barrel-vaulted and divided into three rooms. The palace is ideal for creating a tourist accommodation facility or as your residence in the lower Salento region.
