In a privileged area, on the first line of the beach of Tauro is sold plot of 1,000 m2 in which there is a warehouse of 671 m2 in poor condition. The warehouse is considered by the cabildo of Gran Canaria, for its antiquity, as an Ethnographic Asset so it could not be demolished, but reform and maintain the facades in their current state. The warehouse dates from the early twentieth century and was used as a salting factory and housing. The warehouse is one-storey, it is built of stone and lime, with linteled roof. Inside coexists the domestic function (housing of the industrialist), with the productive itself. The main entrance gives access to a large hall as an anteroom, which runs along the entire main facade, and communicates with the house. The rooms for the treatment of fish are located at the back of the property. In this area are still preserved the eleven masonry tubs, rectangular in plan, in which the washing and cleaning of the pieces captured for marketing was carried out. In an annexed backyard there is a small well, very rudimentary, made of boulders and cement, 5 meters deep, from which the salt water necessary for these needs was extracted. The facade is 40 meters long, deep 18 meters and roof height 3.50 meters ***************** En una zona privilegiada, en primera linea de la playa de Tauro se vende solar de 1.000 m2 en el cual hay un almacen de 671 m2 en mal estado. Por su antiguedad, el almacen esta considerado por el cabildo de Gran Canaria, como un Bien Etnografico por lo que no se pude demoler, sino reformar y mantener las fachadas en su estado actual. El almacen data de principios del siglo XX y se utilizaba como fabrica de Salazon y vivienda. El almacen es de una planta, construida a base de piedra y cal, con cubierta adintelada. En su interior coexiste la funcion domestica (vivienda del industrial), con la propiamente productiva. La entrada principal da acceso a un amplio recibidor a modo de antesala, que recorre toda la fachada principal, y que comunica con la casa. Las estancias destinadas al tratamiento del pescado se ubican en la parte posterior del inmueble. En dicha zona aun se conservan las once tinas de mamposteria, de planta rectangular, en las que se realizaba el lavado y limpieza de las piezas capturadas para su comercializacion. En un patio trasero anexo existe un pequeno pozo, muy rudimentario, realizado a base de cantos rodados y cemento, de 5 metros de profundidad, del cual se extraia el agua salada necesaria para estos menesteres. ******************************************** Tauro is located on the the south coast of Gran Canaria, about 30 minutes from Las Palmas airport.
