IT Technician 12-month fixed term April 2022 Principal Role The successful applicant will mainly provide 1st line technical support Main Duties The following list is not exhaustive but serves as an indication of what the role encompasses: · Maintaining, installing and configuring hardware and software; · Assisting staff and pupils with IT problems related to the use and operation of the computer hardware and linked systems; · Assisting end-users with other IT problems as required and helping with training where appropriate; · Acting as member of the first line support team in all other areas · Escalating to 2nd and 3rd line support as well as assisting with resolution for future knowledge · Documenting solutions and helping to maintain IT knowledgebase · Monitoring the availability and stocks of the relevant equipment and reporting issues to the Director of IT as required; · Arranging equipment returns and repairs as required; · Knowing and helping to implement the school’s IT policies; · Providing general software and hardware support to all staff and students; · Providing general assistance within the department; · Assisting in maintaining hardware and software inventories, knowledgebases and any other required documentation. Other Responsibilities · Participating in departmental and other appropriate meetings; · To undertake professional development as required. · Carrying out any other reasonable requests, in line with the broad responsibilities of the role. Person Specification Good knowledge of Windows 10 operating system and excellent troubleshooting and interpersonal skills. Ideally candidates will have experience supporting Windows devices, Microsoft Office suite (including Office365), Microsoft Active Directory as well as using Service Desk software. Experience dealing with non-technical end-users in a support role is essential. Knowledge of non-Microsoft operating systems and SCCM is a bonus.
