Reynard Formula Ford RF89 I bought this car for my lads to race, but it turns out that they are too tall at 6'3" and their feet at size 14 dont fit.... so that scuppered that. I bought the car minus engine for some fun with the lads but It turned into a bit of a mission as the gearbox was in a bad way, and the starter motor was dodgy. Mark Bailey rebuilt the gearbox (£4k but the previous owner kindly contributed £2k), the Bilstein dampers were rebuilt by ThyssenKrupp at £400, £6k was spent (previously) on a full chassis rebuild including new floor and powder coating the chassis. I found an American FFord engine rebuilt by Linton Stutely at £3.5k which we figured was good for testing, and it runs great and develops good power, but will ultimately need replacing with a Bold or similar for full on racing. I had the starter motor rebuilt and bought a new shaft for it as they are very unreliable. Thats all good now. Had a run and tune on the rollers with Jon Lee, bought a new set of tyres for it, and I raced it myself at a very wet and cold Donington in November which I thoroughly enjoyed but as I'm now fat and old, I was nearer the back than the front! The car really is immaculate, and in amazing condition, with nothing to do on it (if you want to keep the engine). I'd like to keep it but its just sitting there, so best let somebody else enjoy it.
