The estate, built by architect Johannes Bendik, was commissioned by the founder of the 'Komische Oper', Walter Felsenstein, and completed in 1967. It was important to Walter and Maria Felsenstein to build a spacious and luxurious residence that would fit perfectly into the landscape and not appear overbearing. They succeeded perfectly in this endeavor. One enters the very well-kept grounds through a 2-winged door in a transverse building with the inscription 'Marienhof' and now stands on a spacious courtyard with a fountain. Although all the houses are thatched, the courtyard conveys a Mediterranean character through the terracotta-colored paving stones, the red bricks of the house and the transverse building, and the many lavender and rose bushes. The transverse building houses four horse stalls with a car parking spaces (one with a vehicle pit) plus the boiler room with the large oil tank. The cross building is completely heatable. To the left is the large greenhouse, which is also heatable. Further to the left there is an old cage where the wood for the fireplaces is now being stored - a little further the guest house with an open fire place and a sauna. The main house consists of 10 rooms of different sizes, various bathrooms and a large kitchen with a utility room. A gallery with a wide wooden staircase and a massive railing in the first living room gives the house a feeling of space. The second very large living room ends with a rounded wall with transom windows (as seen in the picture). The bedrooms still all have their unique character. This may also be related to the antique furniture (most of which can be purchased) and the old chimney ovens,. The floors are made of wood, partly with inlaid parquet or precious stone tiles. The mullioned windows and the dark wooden beams on the ceilings add to the homely feeling. Not to forget the large swimming pool (6 x 2 m) - and the old swing in the tree. The estate is surrounded by a brick wall about 2 m high. Since the house is built into a slope, there is a wonderful view to the paddock and the adjacent forest. There is also a gate out to the paddock, so that one can immediately start the ride from the premises. Glienicke / Nordbahn combines the advantages of proximity to the capital and extensive nature reserves. The lively town, which now has more than 12,000 inhabitants, is valued by its citizens primarily because of its pronounced recreational value. The community, which extends over an area of 4.6 square kilometers, gets its unique character from the many decades of old tree population of numerous avenues. Lovingly designed gardens, one and two-family houses, town villas and Wilhelminian style houses characterize the townscape where you also find supermarkets, drugstores, organic markets, doctors and everything else for daily necessities. Glienicke borders directly on the northern outskirts of Berlin. The center of Berlin can be reached in a good 30 minutes by public transport. - Entrance building with 4 horse boxes and hayloft, 2 garages and heating room - A fountain in the center of the terrace - The greenhouse and the old cage (property is not included but can be purchased) - Sauna and open fireplace - Swimming pool with terrace - Various terraces, all houses are hatched, well-kept park with large tree and plant population There are plots of land adjacent to this property that are also available for purchase. * As a matter of form we would like to point out that this offer is subject to a commission for the buyer.
